Just like most parents, we’re sure you love getting out of the house with the kids to enjoy the outdoors. Especially after such a long winter, getting out and enjoying the sun and gorgeous weather this summer is something most Ottawa parents have been looking forward to for quite some time. If you’re new to the area, or you’re looking for some inspiration on some things to do or places to go with your kids this summer, then we have a few great ideas here for you!
The Rideau Canal: Okay, so we’re not super original here with this one, but walking or biking along the Rideau Canal really is a great way to spend a nice summer day. Many Ottawa residents take this amazing landmark for granted, so we thought we would add this to the top of our list. One idea you may not have thought to do would be to rent a boat, kayak or paddleboat and really experience the canal! If you’d rather not worry about navigating the canal yourself, there are many guided tours available that range in prices. Rideau Canal Boat Rentals and Tours should be a good starting point for you to find a rental or more info on guided tours of the canal.
Splash Pads & Wading Pools: There are plenty of splash pads and wading pools located in various parks throughout the city. Many of which are lifeguard supervised and make for a great way to spend a sunny day and cool off. If you’re looking for even more fun, then you may want to check out Mont Cascades Waterpark which is a great place to bring your older kids. It’s not super expensive either.
Theme Parks & Amusement Parks: A couple of great amusement parks that you may not have otherwise heard of would be Karters Corner which has go-carts, paintball, mini golf and more. Another highly recommended attraction would have to be Saunders Farm which sits on 100 acres and has hedge mazes, wagon rides, splash pads, puppet shows and tons more.
