The need for school supplies

There's no limit to what a child can learn when equipped with the right school supplies. Tools 4 Schools was developed in the spring of 2000 by young people at CAYFO after local newspapers pointed out the need for school supplies for local school-aged kids. The lack of these necessary items was linked with low self-esteem and diminished school performance. The Ottawa community is anticipating an even greater demand for school supplies this year due to then continuing economic situation.

What YOU can do to help

Th The Tools 4 Schools program collects the much needed school supplies through donations, a community wide drive and a corporate challenge in the months of July and August. Since 2000 CAYFO has given out over 16,000 backpacks to children and youth in need!

Donate cash or school supplies – every donations makes a difference! Financial donations can be made to Child & Youth Friendly Ottawa and will be used to purchase supplies for young people in our community. Collection boxes are available in July and August.
Participate in our Corporate Challenge by setting up a collection box in your workplace and/or collecting cash donations to provide supplies to Ottawa-area children.
Are you a young person looking to make a difference in your community? If so participate in our Youth Challenge by getting together a group of friends and planning a fundraising event to benefit Tools 4 School!
