In April 2009 community, business and political leaders from across Canada gathered with young people in Ottawa for the Towards 2020 national conference.

A bold and perhaps unprecedented event, Towards 2020 brought together 500 delegates and 40 speakers to Ottawa on April 26th-29th, 2009. They participated in a ground breaking event that considered the critical issues and opportunities that have an impact on young people as we move towards the year 2020 and beyond!

Working in partnership with young people and with several Canadian organizations, we identified and explored critical issues and emerging opportunities facing Canada’s children and youth. The conference examined our collective roles and responsibilities to challenge all of us to shape a vision of the future that will protect and improve the lives of our children. Towards 2020 was designed to involve participants in the generation of an action plan or blueprint for improving the way we work with, and for, Canadian children and youth.

Towards 2020 is about ideas, creativity and change – discovering new, collaborative and sustainable ways of working together.
